DAY 1 : Day 1: Marrakech – Telouat Kasbah – Ait Benhaddou – Agdez

3-Day Marrakech to Erg Chigaga Desert Adventure: Camel Trek, Kasbahs & Sandboarding

Today, step back in time as you unveil the historic lands of the Berbers. Our professional driver will take you away from Marrakech’s bustle for an adventurous and thrilling exploration of places and people. Crossing the Atlas Mountains is like watching a movie with varying landscapes. Your eyes will be enchanted by the expansive natural vistas and Berber villages perched on the hills. The juxtaposition of human and nature is a real thing here. The Tizi-n-Tichka Pass is the next stop before heading to the secluded Telouat Kasbah. Here, you will learn about the fascinating history of Morocco’s ruling systems, such as the feudal Makhzen system. The powerful Pasha El Glaoui, equivalent to a duke, ruled the south and had close ties with the sultan at that time.

Continue along the Road of One Thousand Kasbahs and arrive at one of the highlights: the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou. It has remained unchanged since the 11th century and is a remarkable example of traditional Moroccan earthen architecture. At the site, we’ll organize lunch at a local cooperative owned by local women. NB: As mentioned before, we highly support any initiative that helps women, especially in rural areas of Morocco.

The Draa Valley stands as a testament to Morocco’s influence in Western Africa, showcasing its natural and artistic legacy. The uniqueness of the Draa Valley is evident in its special flora and fauna, stunning palm groves, lush terrains, and the meandering Draa River. Overnight in serene Agdez in a beautiful kasbah.

DAY 2 : Day 2: Agdez – Zagora – Erg Chigaga

3-Day Marrakech to Erg Chigaga Desert Adventure: Camel Trek, Kasbahs & Sandboarding

After a hearty breakfast surrounded by palm groves, explore Tamnougalte, a well-preserved kasbah, before heading towards Zagora. This charming town once served as a stopover for traders coming from the vast Sahara. Along the way, explore traditional pottery workshops in Ezzawiya Nassiriya and observe local artisans at work. In the Draa Valley, people are incredibly kind, adding to the region’s tranquility. A visit to this soul-fulfilling place will leave you with fond memories of something truly unique.

The Sahara is renowned for its outstanding sunsets and sunrises. Rest assured that our driver will ensure you capture these exceptional moments as the desert transforms into hues of red and orange. Enjoy panoramic views of the desert atop a camel. NB: We offer 4x4 sunset viewing for those unable to ride a camel.

Return to your comfortable desert camp, featuring traditional nomad-style tents that allow you to experience the true solitude and tranquility of the desert under the stars at night. Enjoy dinner at your camp. If you’re interested in astronomy, this is an opportunity to stargaze and observe celestial events.

DAY 3 : Day 3: Erg Chigaga – Taznakht – Marrakech

3-Day Marrakech to Erg Chigaga Desert Adventure: Camel Trek, Kasbahs & Sandboarding

Wake up early to a beautiful atmosphere and climb the sand dunes to witness the desert sunrise before breakfast at the camp. Your local desert guide, who comes from a nomadic family, will share knowledge about the desert and cultural practices. Next, leave the desert terrain and drive through the Draa Valley. On the way, encounter historic mosques, desert settlements, and agricultural terraces. We’ll also stop at Lake Iriqui to learn about farming techniques and sustainable irrigation systems. Arrive at the picturesque village of Taznakht, known for its vibrant Berber carpets. The Taznakht carpet represents the skill and pride of women in creating colorful carpet masterpieces. Here, we’ll visit Lalla Fatma’s local cooperative, which exemplifies how women have transformed their families' lives and continues to contribute to the community.

Continue your journey through the Atlas Mountains, enjoying the changing landscapes as you make your way back to Marrakech. Arrive in the early evening and be dropped off at your accommodation, reflecting on an adventure filled with stunning vistas and cultural richness.
