DAY 1 : Day 1: Marrakech – Telouat Kasbah – Ait Benhaddou – Agdez
3-Day Marrakech to Erg Chigaga Desert Adventure: Camel Trek, Kasbahs & Sandboarding
Today, step back in time as you unveil the historic lands of the Berbers. Our professional driver will take you away from Marrakech’s bustle for an adventurous and thrilling exploration of places and people. Crossing the Atlas Mountains is like watching a movie with varying landscapes. Your eyes will be enchanted by the expansive natural vistas and Berber villages perched on the hills. The juxtaposition of human and nature is a real thing here. The Tizi-n-Tichka Pass is the next stop before heading to the secluded Telouat Kasbah. Here, you will learn about the fascinating history of Morocco’s ruling systems, such as the feudal Makhzen system. The powerful Pasha El Glaoui, equivalent to a duke, ruled the south and had close ties with the sultan at that time.
Continue along the Road of One Thousand Kasbahs and arrive at one of the highlights: the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Benhaddou. It has remained unchanged since the 11th century and is a remarkable example of traditional Moroccan earthen architecture. At the site, we’ll organize lunch at a local cooperative owned by local women. NB: As mentioned before, we highly support any initiative that helps women, especially in rural areas of Morocco.
The Draa Valley stands as a testament to Morocco’s influence in Western Africa, showcasing its natural and artistic legacy. The uniqueness of the Draa Valley is evident in its special flora and fauna, stunning palm groves, lush terrains, and the meandering Draa River. Overnight in serene Agdez in a beautiful kasbah.
