This day trip explores the highest village in North Africa. Tizzi N tcheddirt stands high at 7516 feet above sea level. The village offers an escape away from the bustling streets of Marrakech and a unique experience with the Berbers of the Atlas Mountains.
Your Akaltours adventure starts in Marrakech with a flexible pick up from your riad and drive approximately for one hour and half ‘37 miles’ until you arrive at Asni village where you can pay a visit to one of the significant women’s cooperatives of Argan oil, and if you are lucky enough, you can attend the weekly market mainly on Saturdays to delve into the everyday life of the Berbers in the Atlas mountains.
On the road again and this time to Tamguiste and once you arrive you can take a 30 minutes’ walk to the village of Wanskra to immerse yourself more in the Berber culture by having some mint tea at the house of Lhaj Benjamou.
Afterwards, you Can take a small walk around the village and enjoy the breat taking views of this astonishing site before arriving at the village of Tacheddirte where you will be welcomed with Hassan at his guest house Dar Bejmate to have some insights into the history of the village and then savor the essence of the Berber cuisine made using ingredients from the same village.Post lunch, you will have the honor to explore the oldest refuge in the Atlas mountains which was built in 1927. Delve deeper into the Berber culture by walking in their villages and saluting the kids and people who will be happy to smile at you and say Hi.
Continue your road to Tizi N Tmatert and end up at Imlil village which has Toubkal which is considered the highest pick in Africa. You can take pictures not only here but throughout the whole day trip for you and the memories of the Atlas Mountains.
You come to the end of your interesting day trip. Your driver will make sure you are all comfortable with your seat belts and drive back to Marrakech with the Berber music played in the car.
