We believe that travel is a way to connect with people and spread peace, love, respect and coexistene but also a way for economic growth for families in the rural areas of Morocco. At Akal tours, we will make sure that you support the locals and only the locals. Whether you eat at a local restaurant in the remote mountains of Morocco or purchasing a unique souvenir from an elderly or visiting a local cooperative run by women from the community, you will help in the development of these individuals that we take the pride to boost their families and kids.
There is an old African saying that goes: “If you educate a man, you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a family (nation)”.
We are happy to share with you that we have been helping women in remote areas in Morocco by a few things:
We helped some women in the Atlas Mountains cope with the cold winters by offering blankets and food for their kids and families. We also have contributed to some voluntary campaigns that addressed some medical issues these women had. We organized some unexpected classes for them to learn basics in French or English.
We designed most of our itineraries and included visits to associations, cooperatives or even local group of women, who have been trying to market their products like artisan workshops, cooking class, rug weaving. We are more than happy to see some of them being successful and thriving.
